Dear Members,
The
weather in Hong Kong is getting hot in May and my work is in the
middle of preparing the two major events this year! The Annual
Meeting of Guangdong Minibottle Club in August will be held on
17 August in Guangzhou. We have received great support from the
eight major distilleries in France (Hennessy, Remy Martin, Martell,
Camus, Courvoisier, Hine, Larsen, Meukow) for our trip to Spain
and Cognac, France. They will provide a special reception to us
in this trip as well. It is really pleasant to have the Bureau
National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC) to work together.
Although the preparation workload is enormous and complicated,
we will try our best to make an extraordinary journey for participants.
We will keep updating the details of these two major events. Please
pay attention to our further notice.
With the growing number of our club's members, we have got an
imbalance in demand and supply of our monthly selections. Bitter
complaints have been received in recent years and foreign members
could hardly order one due to the time difference. Members who
have a closer relationship with me know that it is hard to earn
from selling monthly selection. The greatest trouble is to think
of a way to bring such a large quantity of bottles back to Hong
Kong. It's a pity that such unpleasant incident has happened to
the purpose that initially hopes members can benefit from!
To
avoid such thing happens again, a new arrangement has been made.
Starting from this month, members who would like to order the
selection of that month can register their name first from the
1st to the 10th day of each month. If the quantity is enough for
the registered members, we will notify those registered to settle
the payment on the 11th day of each month. If the number of registrations
is more than the quantity of bottles offered, we will draw lots
to decide the winner at noon (Hong Kong Time - HKT) on the third
Saturday of each month (the lots drawing day will be postponed
to the next working day if the third Saturday is a holiday). Maybe
we will keep a few of the miniatures and put them up for a small
auction which provides another chance for those who really want
to own the miniatures. The process will be like the auction in
the liquor group before and the differences in prices will be
kept for future use, such as meal before or after the event. I
hope that this new arrangement can be convenient for members and
can ease the workload of my staff.
The
Monthly Selection of May is Johnnie Walker Discover 5x50ml.
The five bottles are Black Label, Double Black, Gold Label, 18
Years and Blue Label. This set of miniatures was on sale months
ago and is still available to buy currently. I believe many members
should have already bought it. For those who are interested, Please
